Substitute Evaluation

In order to find out how the day went with a substitute teacher, have students reflect upon the substitute and class behavior in general. You may want to have specific questions for your students to answer about these topics. Some examples are given below:
  • Did you like the substitute teacher? Explain.
  • How did the class behave when the substitute teacher was here?
  • Did you complete the work that was assigned?
  • Were you respectful to the substitute? Was the substitute respectful to you?
This will give you an idea of how well the day went in your absence, whether you should use the same substitute in the future, and if you need to adjust the amount of work you give students while you're away.
