Interactive Bulletin Boards

Name that Sport

For this activity you will need to divide your bulletin board into 2 columns. One column will be a list of Olympic events and the other will have places to attach pictures of these events. You can choose events that work for your class. The best way to get pictures is to cut them out of a magazine or print them out from the web, mount them on tagboard, and laminate them if possible so they will be extra sturdy. You can then punch holes in the top for students to use to hang them over a tack on the board next to the appropriate term. Have a self-check available. You can use this bulletin board for several weeks and just change the events and pictures. For more advanced students you can make this into a spelling game by having the pictures mounted on the board and then having your kids spell out the name of the sport with individual letters that they can place on velcro stripping or in a transparent pocket.
