## Miscellaneous

### Turkey Probability

For this activity you will need to arrange the bulletin board in a chart form with 3 columns. Each column will be headed by a picture of a different turkey. You will also need to make many smaller copies of these turkeys. Hang a bag from the board in which you place 10 small turkeys in differing amounts. The object is for your students to estimate the probability of choosing each different turkey based on a sampling. They will randomly pull a turkey from the bag, record it with a tally mark on the board, put it back in the bag, and then repeat this 10 more times. Based on the results, they can estimate the probability and then they can find the actual probability by looking at all of the turkeys. In order for the board to be reusable, have you kids make the tally marks by placing construction paper strips on the board with tacks. You should have several sets of 10 turkeys available so your kids can do this over and over again. Place a label on each set, so that they can record their data and final answers easily.
