Hurricane by David Weisner

  1. Have students read Hurricane by David Wiesner. The story is about a hurricane that knocks down a tree in the backyard of two imaginative brothers.
  2. Have some general questions about the book ready for students to answer. Include questions about setting, characters, main events, and especially the boys' imaginations.
  3. Have students brainstorm a list of things that they have made-believe.
  4. Have students choose one of these items to write an imaginative story about themselves and a friend or sibling.
